On Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, we said goodbye to our husband, father, son and brother Bryce Tumelson.
Bryce was born on Dec. 26, 1956, to M. Arlene Maynard and William H. Tumelson in Lewiston. Bryce loved with his whole heart, his family, friends, country and God. He was a man who wore many hats and never met a stranger. After high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany and the Marshall Islands. This allowed him to travel throughout Europe. He was an iron worker for years, traveling the country from Pennsylvania to Oregon and sites in between. Bryce spent 7 years working in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, where he obtained his crane certification while building the Ritz Carlton Resort. After returning to the states, he worked in the oil fields of Alaska and then for A&R Construction until his retirement.
In November of 1991, over a spilled beer, Bryce met his match and fell for the woman he would spend the rest of his life with, Janet Smith. Along with Janet he became a stepfather to three. Bryce told my kids, “I had a stepdad and tried to run him off. It didn’t work with him and it won’t work with me.” He was in it for the long haul.
Bryce is survived by his true love, Janet Smith; mother Arlene Worley; brother Jeff Tumelson.
He is also survived by his son Travis Laws; daughter Christina (Pat) Christopherson and Heather (Sean) Davis; grandkids are Jaron (Krystal), Gavin and Korbin Christopherson, Kira and Tanner Stedman, Sophia and Allie Laws, and a great-grandson we have yet to meet, sister-in-law Maggie (Dennis) Baker and Steve Schoonover. Also surviving is his aunt Norma Fallers, nephew Justin Tumelson and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Billy Tumelson, grandparents Roy and Louella Tumelson and Jack and Elizabeth Maynard.
You are on to greener pastures and we will miss you tremendously.
A celebration for Bryce will be held at a later date.
