
Chad Davis VanScotter, 53, of Clarkston, passed away unexpectedly at his residence Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025.
Chad was born on Aug. 9, 1971, to Gary and Jeanine VanScotter in Clarkston.
Chad attended Clarkston High School. After high school, Chad started his first job at Zuper’s Pizza, kickstarting a 24-year career in the food service industry, his career was cut short due to health issues in 2014.
For those who remember the original Rusty’s Ranch Café and often dined there, there was a good chance that Chad cooked your meal. Chad was employed there for 17 years, for many of those years he was the kitchen manager and head cook.
Chad met his future wife, Michelle Barnes, while working at Zuper’s Pizza’s Clarkston location. They married on July 23, 2003, in Clarkston.
Chad was preceded in death by his father Gary VanScotter, and his paternal grandparents Alvin and Arla VanScotter. He is survived by his wife Michelle VanScotter and his mother Jeanine VanScotter, both of Clarkston; his sister Kimberly (Kent Anderson) VanScotter of Anatone; niece Kyanna VanScotter and cousin Ruby Smith.
A celebration of life and a potluck meal will be held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at the Valley Community and Senior Center, 549 Fifth St., Clarkston. Please bring your favorite side dish or dessert.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Senior Round Table, P.O. Box 2012, Clarkston, WA 99403. The Senior Round Table is a “Meals on Wheels” program for homebound seniors in Asotin County.
