Cora M. Wilfong

Cora M. Wilfong

5/7/1935 — 3/15/2016

Cora M. Wilfong was born May 7, 1935, in Redding, Calif., to Janet and Cecil Bumcrot. She was one of three and was the final person in her family to join them.

Cora passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016, in Lewiston, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Cora was well-known for helping those in need. She gave birth to seven, but was mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend to hundreds.

The family moved from Redding, Calif., to the Boise area, where she went to school. From there she moved around the Northwest, settling in Lewiston in 1962. She worked at the Pancake House, several hotels, the University of Idaho Extension Office and Sears, and volunteered at the food bank since 2008. She enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, yard work, camping and hanging with the boys.

She is survived by her children, Ken, Mike and Robert Stephens of Lewiston, Vivian Williams of Nezperce, Susan Barnhart of Renton, Wash., Michael Hawk of Fife, Wash., Jim Markham of San Diego, and Marge of McCall.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Ed Stephens; and her husbands.

A celebration of life with a covered-dish dinner will be held at 1 p.m. next Saturday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, 1104 Warner Ave., Lewiston. Donations to the local food bank would be appreciated.
