Cynthia Catherine Church passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, after a long-fought battle with breast cancer.
Cynthia was born Oct. 26, 1955, to Lillian and Earl Bourne in Great Falls, Mont. She was the youngest of their five children.
She attended Great Falls Central Catholic High School until the school closed in 1973. Her senior year was at Great Falls High School, graduating in 1974.
On June 7, 1974, she and Douglas G. Miller were married in Great Falls. They welcomed daughter Denice in 1977, daughter Kimberly in 1981 and son Michael in 1985.
Cyndee worked at Teleprompter Cable TV in Great Falls from 1974 to 1976. In 1977, she went to work for Norwest National Bank, now Wells Fargo Bank, and held many positions before retiring in 1995. She and Doug divorced in 1995. She moved to Lewiston, where she worked from 1996 to 1998 at the Clearwater Credit Union. In 1998, she moved back to Great Falls to be closer to her children and parents. She worked in the Cascade County Clerk and Recorder's Office as a deputy clerk.
In 2000, she moved back to Lewiston and married John A. Church. She worked as a care provider and bookkeeper for John's mother, Gwen Church, until Gwen's passing in 2005.
Cyndee filled her days by helping with her grandchildren, gardening, sewing, reading and traveling. John and Cyndee loved to travel and spent time each summer traveling through the USA and internationally.
In 2012, Cyndee was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. She tried to keep a positive attitude while having more than 60 intravenous chemotherapy treatments and nearly a year of chemo pills. She set three goals for herself and she accomplished all three - to attend her son's wedding (June 2014), to outlive her mother (December 2014) and to turn 60 on Oct. 26 of this year. In true Cyndee fashion, the birthday celebration was about her giving to others and celebrating her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Denice (Kevin) Danz of Helena, Mont., Kimberly (Chad) Wheeler of Clarkston, and son Michael (Alicia) Miller of Great Falls, Mont.; brothers James (Lynn) Bourne of Great Falls, Mont., Bruce (Diane) Bourne of Seeley Lake, Mont.; sister Patricia (Peter) McGuigan of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; five grandchildren; and aunt Joy Davis of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; and nieces, nephews and many cousins. Also surviving are John's two children and their children.
Cyndee was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Church (Nov. 11, 2015); her brother, Charles Bourne; nephew David Bourne; and parents Lillian and Earl Bourne.
At Cyndee's request, there will be no public service. Instead, she would be delighted if you would plan a get-together with your family to laugh, share and make memories. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Church of Nativity: Lewiston City Library; or Angela's Piazza in Billings, Mont.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their kindness to mom throughout her illness, especially the Gina Quesenberry Foundation, who would also benefit from your support.
