Edward William Metcalf passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 70.
Ed was born May 17, 1945, in Springfield, Mass., to Charles Elwin Metcalf and Mary Alice Hughes. The family later moved to Iowa. He attended schools in Iowa and California, and then moved to Grangeville in 1972, where he worked for the sheriff's office for five years, including two as sheriff.
From 1977 to 1991, Ed was a truck driver in Lewiston. In 1991, he went to work for the Idaho Transportation Department and stayed there until he retired in 2012.
Ed met and married Pauline King in 1979. Together they raised nine children, Corrie Morton, Daniel (Danna) Metcalf, Thomas Metcalf, Kim (Herb) Greenwalt, Kerrie Wilson, Daniel Kaufman, Rebecca (Steven) Browne, Patrick (Ronda) Kaufman and Travis (Christine) Kaufman.
Ed is survived by his two brothers, Donald (Pat) Metcalf and Bill (Sandi) Metcalf; his wife; nine children; 23 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at CrossPoint Alliance Church in Lewiston.
