Janet A. Moreno

Janet A. Moreno

3/19/1939 — 11/26/2018

Janet Anita Bradley White Moreno, 79, left us peacefully in her sleep Nov. 26, 2018. Janet was born March 19, 1939, to Frances Mae and William Thomas Bradley at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane.

Janet attended St. Stanislaus Catholic School from 1946 to 1953 and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1957. She attended Sacred Heart Nursing School in Spokane to begin her life in the care of others. During her third year at nursing school, she met Norman White while attending a USO event at Fairchild Air Force Base. The two were married on April 19, 1959, and moved to Klamath Falls, Ore., where Norm was stationed at Kingsley Air Force Base, and their first son, Ronald, was born. They moved to Ramstein, Germany, where their second son, Kerry, was brought into the world in 1961.

Being in a military family was never really all fun and games, but Jan made the best of every move and kept the spirit of the family. After Germany, they were reassigned to Klamath Falls where their third child and only daughter, Lorri, was born in 1964.

More moves happened over the years including Cotati, Calif., and Minot, N.D., where Jan received her nursing degree from Minot State College. Their final military assignment and move was to NORAD in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Jan and Norm divorced in July 1982. A few short years afterward, Jan decided on a significant life change, when she moved to Scottsdale, Ariz. While there, she met Joe Moreno and they married in March 1992.

Jan and Joe traveled quite a bit and enjoyed short visits to Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nev., for gambling adventures. They visited Lewiston frequently to see her parents. Jan and Joe divorced in early 2002 and Jan then devoted the next few years on her retirement goals. She worked long hours and eventually decided she had enough to retire, sold her Scottsdale home and moved back to Lewiston in 2007.

She bought a little house on Normal Hill that she felt was just right. She invested further in it, providing a basement apartment and adding her touches around the yard. This may have been too much for her after the many years of hard work as a nurse because in 2012 she left the little house on Normal Hill and moved into Royal Plaza for care.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Frances (Frankie) Mae and William (Bill) Thomas Bradley. Janet is survived in love by her three children: her son, Ron (Cathy) White of Colorado Springs; Kerry (Laura) White of Scottsdale; and Lorri (Kevin) Duren of Colorado Springs; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Janet is also preceded in death by one of her dear great-grandchildren, Isaiah.

Jan’s family of surviving siblings include brothers Pat (Dottie) Bradley of Lewiston; Mike (Anita) Bradley of Lewiston; Steve (Cindy) Bradley of Idaho City, Idaho; Rick (Patty) Bradley of Lewiston; Geoff (Debbie) Bradley of Havre, Mont. and her only sister Sharon (Dean — deceased) Newbury of Lewiston. Jan also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Janet’s interment will be at Normal Hill Cemetery at her parent’s grave site. Viewing will be Monday, Dec 3, from noon until 6 p.m. at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home, followed by her cremation. A Mass will be held at St. Stanislaus Church the following day, Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. followed by graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate in her name to Esperança Inc. (www.esperanca.org) a non-profit organization located in Phoenix that she supported.
