Jean Moecki

Jean Moecki

11/13/1962 — 7/13/2024

Jean Ruth Moeckli, of Lewiston, was born Nov. 13, 1962, in Everett, Wash. Accompanying her in birth was her twin sister, Julie Ann. Jean is survived by her parents Gordon and Judith Moeckli; twin sister Julie Ann Klingsmith and husband Mardy; brother Mark Moeckli and wife Jamie; nephews and nieces Sean Klingsmith, wife Nadia and son Maxen; Skyler Klingsmith, wife Deborah and daughters Lylah and Myah; Treva Moeckli and husband Steve Hanatsch; Nicole Moeckli; and Joshua Moeckli.

Jean was a loved child of God, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many. Jean grew up in Portland, surrounded by many generations of family. Her family moved to Kennewick, where she graduated from Kennewick High School and attended Columbia Basin College. While working full-time, she took evening courses and graduated cum laude from Central Washington University with a degree in Business Administration in 1990.

She was employed by the State of Idaho Health and Welfare as an information technology specialist. After 28 years, due to health issues, she was forced to retire in March 2024.

In July 2023, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney cancer. During all the treatments and procedures, she kept a positive attitude. When nothing seemed to be working, she opted to try one more treatment. There was only a 25-percent chance that this treatment would work, but in Jean’s words, “it’s a Win-Win. Either it works, or I see Jesus.”

Her family took care of her along with hospice nurses and very dear friends. She entered into God’s Kingdom on the morning of Saturday, July 13, 2024. She was finally able to see Jesus.

A celebration of life service for Jean will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at Tammany View Baptist Church, 3732 20th St., Lewiston, (208) 746-5031, where she was an active member. A cookie reception will follow.

Since Jean had a deep love for kids, donations can be made in her memory to the Youth Camp Scholarship Fund at Tammany View Baptist Church.
