Jennifer Fuhs

1/16/1967 — 10/11/2025

Jennifer “Jenn” Fuhs tragically succumbed to her second battle with cancer on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025. God willing, and based on her confession of faith in 1990, Jenn will spend eternity in heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Jenn was born Jan. 16, 1967, in Ankara, Turkey, to Richard and Jerri Ryan. Richard was stationed in Turkey with the U.S. Air Force. She was raised in Gladbrook, Iowa, by Steve and Jerri Baumeier. She graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1985, where she excelled in academics and sports.

While on vacation in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Jennifer met the only love of her life, Brian Fuhs. Brian and Jennifer were married Dec. 29, 1988. Together, their lasting legacy includes a covenant marriage of 36 years, five amazing children and four beautiful grandchildren. All of their children were born in California, where Brian was stationed with the U.S. Navy. After Brian’s last Navy assignment in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, the Fuhs’ moved to Lewiston, in 2004. Most of the family still lives in the area.

Among Jennifer’s many interests were: music, board games, card games, shopping, road trips, the beach, softball, basketball and movies. Every year, she looked forward to the Corn Carnival in Gladbrook and the Farm Chicks in Spokane. She relished her trips to Seattle and Spokane for the NCAA Women’s Basketball Sweet 16 and Elite Eight games. Most of all, she loved that these events were enjoyed with her family.

In 2016, while attending her first year of law school, Jenn was diagnosed with breast cancer. That same year, she received treatment and was declared cancer-free. She graduated law school in 2018 and began practicing law. On May 1, 2023, she opened the Fuhs Law Office.

In December of 2024, Jenn was sadly diagnosed with cancer again. This time it had advanced into her spine. She fought it with every ounce of her being and refused to quit. She bravely endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy and other treatments, which were ultimately unsuccessful. She passed away in her home, surrounded by family. Thankfully, no more pain.

Jenn was dearly loved by family and close friends. She was respected by colleagues, associates and professionals in the legal community. Her engaging spirit endeared her to everyone. We are all better off for having known her. The accomplishments and titles are too many to list, but the one’s she treasured most were: Christian / Wife / Mom / Mimi / Daughter.

Jenn is survived by her husband, Brian Fuhs; her children, Kaulen (Sarah), Charles, Brian II “Joey”, Aidan and Thea (Caley); her grandchildren, Alice, Charlie, Autumn and Juniper; her parents, Jerri (Steve) Baumeier, Richard (Sherri) Ryan; and her siblings, Casey and Leslie.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, David and William; her parents-in-law; and her grandparents.

The Jennifer Fuhs community memorial was observed Saturday, Oct. 18. Brian will reach out regarding a local celebration of life memorial, for family and friends as the date and time has not yet been determined. Jerri Baumeier will reach out regarding an observance in Iowa.
