Larry Darryl LaPlante, 77, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016, at his home.
He was born to George and Velma LaPlante on July 10, 1938, in Sunnyside, Wash. They moved to Lewiston when Larry was young. He grew up around his father's business, George's Auto Wrecking.
Larry was passionate about cars and was quite a mechanic. Some of his glory days were spent at the Lewiston Speedway. He made many lifelong friends and won numerous trophies driving No. 66.
The love for his family was huge. Survivors include his sister, Alaire King; brother Galen; sons Lonnie (Mona), Gary, Bobby, Rodney, David Watkins, and Richard (Diane); and daughter Bridget Durkin (Shon).
He was preceded in death by his dad, George; mother Velma; brothers Alfred and Niles; and granddaughter Chelsie.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Normal Hill Cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will be at the Lewiston Eagles following the graveside service.
