Larry L. Hardway

Larry L. Hardway

1/18/1945 — 10/16/2025

Jan. 18, 1945 — Oct. 16, 2025

Larry L. Hardway died suddenly of a massive heart attack on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025. He is survived by his daughter Taryn Hardway and grandson Kayden Harper of Coeur d’Alene; sister Patricia Hardway of Seattle; nieces Julie Lustig, Jamie Hardway, Lisa Hartwig and Amanda Frailey of Lewiston, Clarkston and Seattle.

Larry was preceded in death by his father Walter Hardway, his mother Patricia Hardway; his brother Jack Hardway; and sisters Janis Wells and Linda Schwab.

Larry graduated from Clarkston High School in 1963. He went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service for almost 37 years. He took time off from working at the post office to work for about five years for Larry Ridge Construction, then returned to the post office.

Larry was a longtime Lions Club member in Clarkston and Walla Walla; past member of the Elks Lodge, and former Clarkston City Council member.

Larry was an avid sports player. In high school he played basketball, football and baseball. He played with friends after school in Clarkston’s Parks and Recreation league. He also enjoyed coaching Little League baseball. His main sport after school was golf. He also enjoyed hunting and later fishing, especially yearly fishing trips with a group of friends to the Lochsa River, “The Lewiston Fishing Gang.” Among these friends were three lifelong friends, John Duthie of Seattle, Phil Stonebraker of Clarkston, and John Vassar of Lewiston. Our family will forever be grateful to these three for all the support and friendship they have shown to us — and especially Larry.

His “Larryisms” will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

A celebration of life will be at Red Wolf (Clarkston Country Club) in the spring. In lieu of flowers we ask that you contribute to the Boys and Girls Club, 1414 Highland Ave., Clarkston, designated for their sports programs, in Larry’s name.
