Lois Mae Holloway was reunited with her Savior on Sunday, April 14, 2019, and what a joyous reunion that must have been. Lois was born April 3, 1931, to Frank and Lillie Wagner in Lark, N.D. Being the baby, she was not only spoiled by her parents but also by her 10 older siblings. Her parents were not exactly excited when, at the age of 16, she and Rey Holloway eloped Dec. 27, 1947, in Grangeville. It was a marriage that lasted almost 52 years until Rey passed in October 1999.
Throughout her life she worked a variety of jobs but her primary role was as a wife, mother and homemaker. Lois and Rey traveled across the United States not only as long haul truck drivers but also as they moved homes every five years, because they needed a change of scenery. The last 17 years were spent living with her daughter Linda and son-in-law Merle Washburn, in Lewiston, which they considered a blessing.
The last two months she was a resident at Golden Girls, where she received excellent care and was treated like a queen. Lois was a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church in Clarkston. She spent many hours in service to others in the church and community. Mom/Grandma/Gigi was the matriarch and the heart of our family. Her faith in God and in us was never wavering. She was always just a phone call away with advice or recipes. Because of her faith, she was prepared and eager for the next part of her journey.
Lois leaves behind her children Don (Marilyn) Holloway of Whidbey Island, Wash.; Linda (Merle) Washburn of Lewiston; Ralph Holloway of Clarkston; Nancy (Richard) Bailey of Anderson, Calif.; 11 grandkids; and many great-grandkids. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rey; her son Monte; two infant sons Bruce Rey and Ralph Oren; two grandsons Tom Washburn and Tim Nelson and her “bonus son” Pastor Doran Williams, who always called her Mom.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. May 11 at Trinity Baptist Church. A private family burial will take place the following morning in Kooskia.
