Lorene (Nix) Blackwell Heuett, 86, of Lewiston, passed away early Sunday morning of natural causes at Tri-State Memorial Hospital in Clarkston.

Lorene was born Jan. 28, 1930, in Hazel Green, Ala., to Velma and William Nix. She was raised in Hazel Green. She married Harold Blackwell in 1947. In 1952, they moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and then relocated again to Clinton, Iowa, where they owned a sporting goods store. Busy as she was, she still managed to get her three sons to church Sunday mornings and get them through high school. She moved to Lewiston in 1970.

After her divorce, Lorene married Marvin Heuett in 1978 in Clarkston. She enjoyed working at Stillings and Embry Florists up until three years ago, when she had her second stroke.

She is survived by son Gary (Connie) Blackwell of Lewiston; stepson Mark Heuett of Asotin; stepdaughter Carol Ann (Gary) Kazda of Lewiston; sisters Peggy Nix Stapler and Catherine Nix; brother Gerald (Frances) Nix, all of Hazel Green, Ala.; granddaughters Jennifer, Jessica and Rebecca, all of Nevada, and Tina Blackwell of Lewiston; grandson Brandon (Yolanda) Blackwell of Lapwai; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marv Heuett; and sons Jerry Blackwell and Barry Blackwell.

Lorene was a godly, church-going woman. She used her many talents at the First Church of God. She loved to spend time with her sons, grandchildren and particularly her great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, singing, painting and needle point. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. We look forward to our reunion in heaven.

Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at First Church of God, 910 Sycamore St., Clarkston.
