Feb. 13, 1925 - May 11, 2016
Helen Humphrey passed away in her sleep Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at the age of 91.
Helen was born Feb. 13, 1925, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, to Michael T. and Katherine C. McNichols.
The family moved to Lewiston when the new sawmill opened and Helen attended school, graduating from Lewiston High School in 1943. Helen attended Lewis-Clark State College before starting her career with First Security Bank, from which she retired early as an executive secretary.
Helen and Rex Humphrey were married in November 1976 and lived in Clarkston until Rex's passing in 2004. Helen remained in the home she and Rex built until she moved to Evergreen Estates in 2012.
Helen was an active bowler (the family athlete); her name and scores were often in the paper. Helen was also an avid bridge player and enjoyed puzzles of all kinds. Helen and Rex were great fans of Washington State University football and basketball teams.
Helen was a communicant of St. Stanislaus and Holy Family Catholic churches.
Helen was very proud of her family, especially her two brothers, who were federal judges.
Helen is survived by Rex's sister, Lois Maynard of Silverdale, Wash.; and by her nieces and nephews, Kathy and Tom Fellows, Mike and Katie McNichols, Linda and Bob Yeoman, Rod and Mykle Ann Uglem, and Shirley and Wayne Hill, all of Lewiston, Sherri Rulli of Plano, Texas, Robert and Lisa Humphrey Jr. of Portland, Ore., Richard and Debbie Maynard of West Chester, Pa., Gary Maynard of Redmond, Wash., and Joan Maynard; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Kathleen; and brothers Ray, Jerry, Jack and Bob.
A public graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. May 27 at the Normal Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
