Marcella "Marcy" G. Greene, 92, passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Marcy was born Oct. 28, 1923, in Winchester, to Alois and Frances (Geis) Boxleitner, the fifth of six children. She was raised in Winchester and her education included schooling in Winchester and St. Gertrude's in Keuterville.
As a housewife, Marcy loved her home, gardening in her signature white visor, decorating her house, fishing and camping. She was known for her campfire ability to set the kindling ablaze. She loved cooking for the holidays and treasured having her family packed into her wee house, which was always filled with laughter. Her greatest specialty was her fabulous pumpkin pies. Every family member was given a pie to take home at the end of the day, which was then eaten in the middle of the night by the light of the refrigerator. Anybody who crossed Marcy's path came away knowing they had met the sweetest person on Earth. Mom was a very quiet person and left all the talking to her husband, Bing "Magpie" Greene.
She met Byron "Bing" Greene while working in the Winchester mill and they were married Oct. 19, 1947, in Clarkston.
Marcy loved all of her family equally, but had a very special bond with her daughter, Debbie.
Survivors include her son, Bill (Glenda) Greene of Lewiston; and daughter Debbie Grove of Lewiston. Survivors also include five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bing, who died July 4 of this year; her parents; five siblings; and her son, Steve Greene.
A celebration of life including dinner and refreshments for Bing and Marcy will take place at 2 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Lewiston Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall. Please bring your memories of this very special couple.
