Marilyn Virginia Sittner was born Jan. 30, 1926, at Colfax, to Naomi V. Jorgenson and the late George D. Jorgenson.
Because of the fact her mother was a rural school teacher, Marilyn attended several schools throughout eastern Washington. She completed her education in Seattle in 1943. She came to Lewiston from Anchorage, Alaska, in 1953 and has worked for several doctors' offices in the area. She retired in 1987 from Valley Ear, Nose and Throat group, where she was employed as a part-time bookkeeper.
Her hobbies included traveling, reading, gardening and writing poetry. She married Peter Sittner Jan. 26, 1963, at Coeur d'Alene. She was a member of the Church of the Nativity in Lewiston and was active in several church groups.
Survivors are daughters, Mary Ellen Glass of Lewiston, Kathleen Goans-Kennedy of Lewiston, Patricia A. Nicholson of Seal Rock, Ore., Lynette R. Vorous of Coeur d'Alene, and Dorothy J. Snider of Cincinnati; a son, William S. Goans of Lewiston; and two stepsons, Tony Sittner of Lewiston, and Chad Sittner of San Francisco. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Darlene French of Enumclaw, Wash., Louise Massey of Spokane; and a brother, Richard Rodeen of Colfax.
Her husband and brother, James Jorgenson, preceded her in death.
Marilyn died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, after a short battle with cancer. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Nativity, with a light lunch following. As per her instructions, this obituary is fairly short, though her years here were very long and full of God's care and favor.
