Marion Kenneth Grasser passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center due to complications of kidney failure and gastrointestinal bleeding.

Marion was born Oct. 28, 1932, to Katherine Zella (Kouni) and William Howard Grasser, in Lewiston.

While growing up, his family lived in Clarkston then moved to many other locations in the Northwest for his father’s work. His family ended up in Lewiston where he attended school and graduated from Lewiston High school in 1949.

He married Pauline Butler, Sept. 6, 1953. He then served in the U.S. Army stateside for two years, returning to Lewiston where he and Pauline started a family of three children in 1957. Marion worked as a carpenter, then at Potlatch mill and then became an electrician.

In 1970, Marion and Pauline purchased Chet’s Ice in Lewiston renaming it Clearwater Ice Company. After selling the ice company in 1987, they spent their summers in their motor home and eventually built a summer home in Elk River. They spent the following summers at their Elk River home being entertained by their grandchildren, enjoying the hummingbirds, fishing and picking as many as 60 gallons of huckleberries in a good year.

Marion loved metal detecting and fishing. He loved to fish most of all.

Marion is survived by his son Bill, daughter Dixie Grasser-Johnson, daughter Paula (Ken Zodrow), granddaughter Mandy (Aj Mee), great-granddaughter Myla Mee, granddaughter Heather Grasser of Modesto, Calif., great-grandson Kaiden Grasser of Modesto, and nephew Dan Butler.

Marion was preceded in death by his wife Pauline and grandson Cody Grasser-Johnson.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at Normal Hill Cemetery, 1122 Seventh St., Lewiston.
