Mary A. Faerber

Mary A. Faerber

12/20/1953 — 2/28/2017

Mary A. Faerber passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, peacefully at home with her husband Jim and her daughter Sandy by her side after a long-fought battle with heart and vascular disease.

Mary was born in Ladysmith, Wis., to Patricia and Douglas Sorenson on Dec. 20, 1953. She graduated by general education diploma in Lewiston in 1970 and graduated from the Lewiston School of Beauty in 1970 as a hairdresser. Her daughter and only child Sandy was born in July 1976, and by 1984 she opened her salon, Shear Dee-Lite in Colton, which she later moved to Uniontown to expand her business.

On June 10, 1989, Mary married the love of her life and soulmate, Jim Faerber. Anyone who saw the two of them together could plainly see the love and strong bond the two shared throughout their 271/2 years of marriage. Together they rejoiced over the birth of their first grandchild, Jade, in July 1995. Mary then took time off work to enjoy her granddaughter. In 1998, they welcomed a grandson, Khol. Mary was blessed with her third and final grandson, Ian, in 2003.

In 2000, Mary opened her salon, Classique Boutique, at Bishop Place in Pullman. She was cherished by all of the residents who trusted her and only her for all of their hair care needs. She authentically cared for each client, sharing in grief with their friends and families whenever a resident would pass. She kept the salon doors open and the candy dish full, greeting anyone who came in her doors with a smile and a wave. At this time she also opened Miles of Styles, where she traveled to clients' homes in Colton, Uniontown and the surrounding area, to bring beautiful hair right to them. She remained at Bishop Place until her health forced her to retire.

Mary had the ability to light up an entire room with her smile. Her independence and spirit was a source of constant laughter and earned her great respect from everyone she encountered. Her heart and capability for empathy could not be matched, and she loved her family very deeply. Her husband Jim, daughter Sandy and all of her grandchildren were her world, and they were blessed with getting many opportunities to show her how much they cared.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Patricia Sorenson, and siblings Michael and Rachael. She is survived by her husband, Jim Faerber of Moscow; daughter Sandy and husband Christopher of Olympia; sisters Martha Lindsey of Nampa and Ruth and her husband Dan Bailey of Bend, Ore.; and grandchildren Jade Ellsworth-Keeney and her wife Emily of Pullman, Khol Ellsworth of Olympia and Ian Miller of Olympia. There are many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends as well.

Jim and Sandy would like to thank Nancy S. Gregory, ARNP, CDE, at Palouse Medical in Pullman and Dr. Phillip R. Huber and staff at Spokane Cardiology (Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center) for their devotion to caring for Mary with compassion and professionalism. We also would like to give our thanks to Kindred Hospice, Amy Johnson, R.N., Lori Gines, R.N., Tina Slyter, social worker and Paul Barber, chaplain, for their compassion, care and devotion to giving Mary comfort and facilitating Jim and Sandy's ability to help Mary have the "Journey Home" that she wanted.
