Maryln L. Blume

Mom was born Feb. 22, 1933, in Satanta, Kan., to Arthur and Esther Rush. She suffered many tragedies in her early years, with the loss of her mother at age 2 and the death of her father the summer she graduated from high school. Her love of the Lord helped her through these very difficult times in her life.

She met William, her soulmate, while in high school in Arlington, Kan., and from there on they were inseparable. They married after dad left the military on June 10, 1956. She attended Friends University and later transferred to Kansas State (Wildcats), where she received her degree in physical education. Maryln stayed home to raise her four children until they were all in school full time. She worked at Jenifer Junior High and then as the administrative secretary for the Lewiston School District under Andy Smith. Maryln also worked for the Valley Boys and Girls Club in Lewiston until she finally found the perfect job as a library aide at Sacajawea Junior High, where she got to work alongside her husband. They both retired together in June 1998.

After retirement, they spent most of their time with their grandchildren, gardening and joined the senior group at the Congregational-Presbyterian Church in Lewiston. They enjoyed many outings with their neighbors, Bob and Kathy Olson.

Mom's family was her life. She had the most kind and gentle heart anyone could ask for. She was very giving to her family and to anyone in need. Her love for life, books, sports (Kansas University Jayhawks) will live in us forever.

Her husband, William, preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 2015. Mom is survived by her four children, Douglas (Robin), David (Diane), Mary Ann and Sandra. She had nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Rest in peace, beautiful momma. You are forever in our hearts.
