Mrs. Nadine Kambitsch died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, from natural causes at her home at Wheatland Village Estates in Walla Walla.
Nadine was born Nadine Anna Commnick on Dec. 9, 1922, and grew up on the Fred and Anna Comnick family farm northwest of Genesee in Latah County.She graduated with honors from Genesee High School in 1940. In 1945 Nadine earned a bachelor, of science degree in dietetics from the school of home economics at the University of Idaho.
In 1946 Nadine completed post-graduate studies at Harper Hospital in Detroit and accepted a position at St. Luke's Hospital in Spokane, where she managed laboratory procedures specific to the preparation and sterilization of infant formula.
After a four-year courtship with Delbert "D.L." Kambitsch, who was studying finance at Kinman Business University in Spokane, Delbert and Nadine were married on Sept. 24, 1950, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Genesee. They made their home on the Anatone "A.J." Kambitsch family farm east of Uniontown until Delbert's death on June 27, 2005.
In August 2008, Nadine moved to her home at Wheatland Village Estates in Walla Walla, where she enjoyed a healthy and active lifestyle until her death.
Nadine is survived by her only daughter, Stephanie McClure, and Stephanie's husband James "Kevin" McClure of Walla Walla and Genesee. Nadine is also survived by her oldest sister, Marie (Mrs. Lawrence) Bradbury, originally of Challis, Idaho, now of Klamath Falls, Ore.; and Marie's two children, nephew Mark Bradbury of Klamath Falls and niece Marcia (Mrs. Mike) Leake of Brush Prairie, Wash.
Nadine was preceded in death by her younger sister, Latricia (Mrs. Robert J.) Roberts of Lewiston; and is survived by Latricia's two children, niece Kristy Roberts and nephew Kim Roberts, both of Lewiston.
Nadine is survived by sister-in-law, Gale (Mrs. R. Loren) Kambitsch of Lewiston; and Gale's two children, nephew Donald Kambitsch of Lewiston and nephew Bob Kambitsch of Boise.
Nadine is also survived by cousins Norma Clausen of Lewiston, Ione Reser of Leander, Texas, and Erik Scherrer of Granite Falls, Wash., and LaLee Burill of Camano Island, Wash.
On Monday, Nadine's private memorial interment was held at the Delbert L. Kambitsch family gravesite at the Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston. Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home was the attending mortician, with Dennis Hastings officiating.
