Paul Kirk was a simple man and so much more: husband, father, brother, friend, to name a few.
He was one the best truck drivers in the industry and a great bartender who was always willing to pour a cold beer or hot cup of coffee or make you a P.D. burger.
He beat almost everyone in a game of eight-ball or nine-ball ... you choose. He was a loving and devoted husband and father to his wife and children and an ever-so-proud grandfather to his six grandsons and one always-wanted granddaughter. That was the light of his life toward the end. He was also a loving son, brother, uncle and father-in-law.
At the end of his life, we look back and see the effect his life had on others. His legacy makes a huge splash with lots of ripples in a pond of loved ones, friends and family.
He lived his life on his own terms and was always true to himself. He always had a good joke or a kind word or a straightforward, no bull piece of advice to give.
We will always love and miss him and hope his heaven has a new Kenworth with big pumpkin logs to haul, a great dog to share snacks with, a comfy recliner to watch a great game of golf in, a trap range to go shoot a few targets, all the friends who are already in heaven to share a cold beer with and swap lies and jokes with, and a great burger to eat.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Merlyn; daughter Lisa (husband Kevin); sons John-Paul (partner Micheal) and Joe (wife Samantha); grandsons Jacob, Austin, William, Samuel, Daniel, and Terrance; and granddaughter Aspen; sister Andrea (husband Tim); and brother Ed (wife Tari).
He was preceded in death by his father William Kirk; and mother Iris Kirk; father-in-law Lester Griffin; and mother-in-law Marry Griffin.
A memorial and covered-dish dinner will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Deary Community Church. Donations can be made to the Deary Volunteer Fire Department in lieu of flowers.

I served with Paul in the Army at Fort Gordon, Georgia in 1966. Paul was one of the nicest men I met while I was in the military. He would constantly beat me in pool and then I would beat in him ping pong. I an sorry I did not get the chance to re-connect with him while he was still alive. Myself and another Army friend were talking about him and I decided to try to locate Paul. I would like to pass on my condolences to his wife and family and let them know that the Paul I knew in 1966 was a very kind man who got along with and was liked by everyone who came in contact with him.
