Paul G. Swearingen passed away peacefully surrounded by family Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, at the age of 66 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Norma Swearingen; brother Mike (Marilyn) Swearingen; sister Joan (Pat) Richardson; and nieces Angela Fignani and Buffi Richardson. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Swearingen; his children, Paul and Andrea Swearingen, Nick and Jolyn Hobson and Rebecca Swearingen. Paul is also survived by his siblings, Terry (Kris) Swearingen, Danny (Linda) Swearingen, Janet Hart, Doug Swearingen, Lee (Jennifer) Swearingen and Jill (Scot) Fuhrman. Paul’s grandchildren, Charlotte, Hallee, Benjamin, June and Isla Jo Hobson, were the center of his world. Along with countless nieces and nephews who cherished their favorite Uncle Paul. Last but not least are the countless friends Paul made in his time on earth.
Paul was born April 21, 1959, in Lewiston. He was the sixth child of the nine Swearingen children born to Vern and Norma. Paul loved his parents, five brothers and three sisters unconditionally. Growing up in the East Orchards of Lewiston, the Swearingen family was well known to say the least. The family split their time here in Lewiston to be up at the family ranch in Craigmont.
In his younger years, Paul spent his time working at the family ranch. This was a work he greatly enjoyed. He worked alongside his father, Vernon, whom Paul loved very much. Paul was also a skilled carpenter who worked on countless projects over the years with men who were some of his closest and most devout friends to this day.
Paul was truly at home when he was in the mountains with family, friends and an ice-cold Budweiser in hand. He was always living life to the fullest. Whether it was getting firewood, camping and fishing in Idaho’s rivers and lakes, or making everyone warm with his infamous bonfires. A good time, making cherished memories was always a guarantee. It did not matter if you knew him as Paul, Paul G, Pauly, Uncle Paul, Papa or Dad, he was the most loving, hardworking and authentic person you would ever meet. He will be greatly missed, but we know he was welcomed, with open arms, into Heaven.
A celebration of life will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Ketch Pen at the Lewiston Roundup Grounds, 2100 Tammany Creek Road, Lewiston.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Buckley and the team at the St. Joseph Cancer Center.
