Peggy A. Dudley

Peggy A. Dudley

9/27/1953 — 12/10/2018

Peggy Dudley passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, from complications associated with cancer.

The third of six children, Peggy was born Sept. 27, 1953, in Pomeroy, to W. Troy and Ann Ledgerwood. When she was in the sixth grade, the family moved to Clarkston, where she graduated high school in 1971. In 1972, she married Rick Dudley. They were divorced in 1990. At this time, Peggy and the kids relocated to Colton, where they enjoyed a small town life. In April of 2017, Peggy returned to Clarkston.

In 1979, Peggy went to work for Twin City Foods in Lewiston, where she worked until their “shutdown” was inevitable. She left there and went to work for Facilities Services at Washington State University in 2001. At this time, she also started driving charter buses on weekends for Wheatland Express in Pullman. This job she loved, and she never considered it work. She drove people all around the Pacific Northwest to sporting events, and every activity you could think of.

Peggy was a “people person,” so this was the perfect way to meet interesting people. She once said she could not believe someone would pay her to go to new places and do fun things.

In May of 1984, Peggy was diagnosed with lymphoma, with a prognosis of a “few months to live.” After months of treatment, and lots of prayers, she won that battle, and was blessed to be able to enjoy raising her children and enjoying her grandchildren.

Peggy loved to travel — car, airplane or bus. She was fortunate to take trips all over the United States, Europe, South Korea, Mexico and Canada. She looked at her own life as “a great one,” full of blessings and lived to the fullest. Peggy was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed fishing very much, especially with her grandkids. She also enjoyed gardening; roses were her passion.

Peggy was preceded in death by her father, W. Troy Ledgerwood, and her mother, Ann Swinehart. She is survived by her children, Matthew Dudley (Katy), Boise, Craig Dudley (Heather), Stafford, Va., and Tammy Laughlin (Matthew), Belton, Texas; two brothers and three sisters, Tom Ledgerwood (Carlyn), Clarkston, John Dale Ledgerwood, Spokane, Sally Ledgerwood (Gary Ingram), Bellingham, Wash., Judy Ledgerwood (Kheang Un), DeKalb, Ill., and Christine Flores (Ted), Fresno, Calif. Peggy also is survived by eight grandchildren and seven nephews.

Cremation has taken place.

A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 22 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Clarkston. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to: The Bear Research Education and Conservation Program, P.O. Box 644236, Washington State University 99164, a program that Peggy truly enjoyed.

Condolences

Elaine Lambert

I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to all of Peggy’s family. Death is the hardest thing we have to deal with in life. I know my words can do little to ease the pain you are feeling, so I pray that the God of comfort be with you to help you cope. (2 Thessalonians 2:16,17) Lean on Him in the days to follow and read of our amazing hope for our loved ones who have fallen asleep in death.
