Renata Nancy Winters passed away peacefully Thursday, July 23, 2015, of complications from cancer.
Renata was born April 24, 1978, to Scott and Marilyn (Rivera) Winters at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1996 and went on to the University of Idaho, where she obtained her master's in education. Renata was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. Renata had one child, Ava Mae Winters, who was the love of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Ava Mae Winters; her grandmother, Iris Noble; her stepfather and mother, Wayne and Marilyn Myerson; her sister, Alana Winters-Shoemaker; her niece, Ellise Shoemaker; and her other stepparents, John and Joyce Kaufman.
Renata was preceded in death by her father, Scott Winters; and her grandparents, Jess and Nancy Winters.
Growing up, she liked to play dress-up with her childhood friends, was a cheerleader at Lewiston High School, participated in Junior Miss, played volleyball and track. Renata lived and worked as a teacher and educator in Idaho, North Carolina, Arizona, Washington and Kauai, Hawaii. She finally obtained her dream job when she began teaching at Lewis-Clark State College.
Renata loved the outdoors and spent as much time as she could camping, fishing, swimming, boating, skiing - both water and snow - paddleboarding, hiking and snorkeling. She was an artist and she loved teaching her talent and craft to the children. She loved the Lord and always had a smile on her face, no matter what. She was a light in this world with a beautiful personality that drew all people to her.
A covered-dish luncheon and celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Williams Conference Center at LCSC. Renata loved life and beautiful colors. Renata would love it if everyone attending would wear bright colors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ava Winters College Fund and mailed to Umpqua Bank, 303 Diagonal St., Clarkston, WA 99403, or dropped off at any Umpqua Bank.
Renata, friends and family would like to thank all of the staff at Life Care Center and St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for the wonderful and compassionate care she received there.
