Dick Jacksha passed away Monday, Sept 7, 2015.
He was born in Thorn Creek, Idaho, to John and Barbara Jacksha. His early years were spent helping with the family farm. He was called into World War II in the European theater, 99th Division, 394th regiment, attached to Gen. George Patton. Of significance, he was among the first 1,000 troops to cross the Rhine into Germany.
Upon discharge, Dick met the love of his life, Lois Hilding, and the couple were married Jan. 6, 1949. They had two children, Vickey and Ron; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Dick attended Lewiston Normal School, majoring in physical education before being called back to service for the Korean War. His working career was with the U.S. Postal Service. Upon retirement, Dick became an avid golfer, achieving six lifetime holes-in-one. Dick enjoyed gardening and was a talented woodworker, donating several crafts to local charities.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Services have already taken place and Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home of Lewiston is assisting the family.
