Rowena R. Stickler, 94, passed away Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at Kindred Care and Rehabilitation Center in Lewiston. She was born Jan. 23, 1922, in Boston.
She moved West with her folks, Walter and Evelyn R. Wiggins, and one brother in 1930. She first attended the Slickpoo Mission School on Mission Creek. She later attended schools in Culdesac and Lewiston.
She married William S. Stickler in 1948. She had two sons, William and James Stickler. She worked at Spencer's Restaurant as a waitress for 18 years, and then went on to work at the Italian Gardens for 17 years. She was an excellent waitress and is still remembered by many for her years of service at those establishments. From there she retired.
She enjoyed camping, fishing and playing cards with her friends. She loved to go steelhead fishing with both of her sons. She never let them live it down when she caught one and they didn't, or her fish was bigger than theirs.
She is survived by her sons, William and his wife, Janice, and James and his wife, Janet, all of Lewiston; a granddaughter, Tammy Hubbard and her husband, Danny, of Beaverton, Ore.; a grandson, Ian and his wife, Lisa, of Boise; great-granddaughter Kayla Hubbard of Boise; great-grandson Cameron Hubbard and his wife, Sara, of Smelterville, Idaho; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Rena was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn R. and Walter Wiggins; her spouse, William Stickler; her brother, James Wiggins; her grandson, Jerry Stickler; and her companion of 30-plus years, Jordan VonTersch.
The family would like to thank the staff at Kindred Care for all their compassion, care and respect of our mother. There will be a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Catholic Church in Lewiston.
