Ruben A. Meadows, 85, of Lewiston, passed away Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at Tri-State Memorial Hospital, with his family by his side.
Ruben was born Sept. 16, 1930, in Salt Lake City, to Louis Albert Meadows and Grace Jacobson Meadows. The family moved to Lewiston in 1939.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1948 and was stationed out of San Diego. He was honorably discharged.
He married Beverly J. Wyatt in 1950 and they later divorced. They had four sons, Jerry, Randy, Rodney and Kerry.
He married Jeanne Elizabeth Harmon Ravary on April 24, 1972. She came into the marriage with four children whom Ruben loved as his own, Cathy, Daniel, Robert and Patricia.
Ruben owned a Chevron station on 12th Street and Thain Road. He also worked for Orchards Auto Supply until he and Jeanne opened J and R Hardware on D Street in Lewiston. He also worked for Bitterroot Bolt and Chain before he retired.
Ruben loved having his family around him. He loved to go hunting and fishing. He particularly enjoyed the family hunting/camping trips during elk season. He enjoyed working on his property in Waha.
Ruben is survived by his children, Jerry (April) Meadows, Kerry Meadows, Cathy (Aubry) Bly, Daniel (Carol) Ravary, and Patricia (Jerry) Jenkins. He has 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, three sons and his wife, Jeanne.
There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. Jan. 8 at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home, 920 21st Ave., in Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made in his name to the Lewis-Clark Animal Shelter.
