Our mom and grandma, Salli Jackson, got her wings on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015. She lay her head down and softly closed her eyes for eternal rest. She was tired and had been sick for a while and, even though it was unexpected, she is now pain-free and at peace in heaven with her beloved husband, Terry Jackson; her first love and ex-husband, Howard Krueger; their first son, Patrick Krueger; her grandson, Dallas Jackson; and her parents, Glenn Spindler and Margret Owens. She is still surrounded by people who love her.
Salli was raised in Craigmont with her sisters, Glenna, Sidney and Mardel - the Spindler girls. When their dad, Glenn, remarried, she was blessed with three brothers, Stevie, Bobby and Cliffy.
Salli attended high school at Highland High, where she met her first love, her high school sweetheart, Howard Krueger. They got married in 1967. They moved to Great Falls, Mont., where they had three children together, Patrick (deceased), Jason of Lewiston, and JoDee of Clarkston. They were married for 21 years.
She met Terry Jackson in 1988. Her heart jumped out of her chest, she lost all ability to think and fell hopelessly, madly in love with him. They married in 1988 and were together until his death in 2006. She gained two stepsons, Yuma Jackson and Ronni Trevena.
Salli lived in Montana for almost 30 years and made many close friends. She was always surrounded by people and loved ones. She was contagiously friendly and talked to everyone, anywhere. A person couldn't help but like her.
Salli moved back home to Lewiston in 1996. All the kids followed her. We didn't know how to be without our mom. She was our rock.
She was the best mom and an even better grandma. Salli has seven grandbabies who were the light of her life. She taught them to be as silly and have as much fun as possible. She would grab their hand in the middle of a store and dance to the music playing and then laugh to the people watching. Salli was so funny and caring, and you could sit down and talk to her forever and she'd make them feel OK about anything. Jason was the first to bless her with Levi (Big Sandy, Mont.), followed by Elizabeth Krueger (Lewiston). JoDee blessed her with her second grandchild, a girl, MarDee Chambers (Lewiston) and then "Peanut," Lyndon Chambers (Clarkston). Yuma and Ronni added to her blessings with Dallas Jackson (deceased), and Bryson and Logan Trevena (Great Falls, Mont.)
There will be a celebration of her life after the holidays.
