Thomas R. Kaufman

Thomas R. Kaufman

1/11/1964 — 2/7/2016

Thomas Raymond Kaufman lived a hardworking, active life before his death Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, in Lewiston. He was born Jan. 11, 1964, in Moscow, to Mike and Betty Kaufman and died at the age of 52 in a traffic accident in Lewiston.

Tom worked hard, beginning his work experience at the age of 10 with a summer job for the University of Idaho at the tree farm. He also worked as a young man at the Taylor Ranch, where his only access in and out was by airplane. After graduation from Moscow High School, he went on to North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene for auto mechanics and worked at Wally Orvick Chevrolet. He worked at Idaho Cedar Sales in Troy for three years before driving a chip truck for Bennett Lumber for 22 years and worked as a saw filer for Bennett for the past three years. He took great pride in his work, was

never late and was a perfectionist.

He loved motorcycles, cars, snowmobiles, fixing cars and racing. He raced motorcycles competitively and drag-raced cars. He was a very proud and giving father to his son, Ryan. He was always giving without expectations to his family and was a loyal and devoted friend. He was married for 24 years to Lisa Todd.

He is survived by his son, Ryan Kaufman of Lewiston; his parents, Mike and Betty Kaufman of Lewiston; his brother, Don and sister-in-law Lori Kaufman of Richland; his uncle, Ray and aunt Shirley Kaufman of Lewiston; his aunt, Sandy and uncle Jerry Percy of Arizona; Susan Todd of Rathdrum, Idaho; Mike Todd of Otis Orchards, Wash.; and many cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Real Life Church in Moscow. The graveside service is to follow at 3 p.m. at the Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston.

My most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Tom Kaufman upon hearing the news of his passing. While I knew him as a young man he so apparently grew to a loving, caring, proud family man. He will undoubtedly be missed by all.
