Todd Wimer

In Loving Memory of Todd Fredrick Wimer, Jan. 10, 1973 — May 7, 2025

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23

Todd Fredrick Wimer, 52, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully in the presence of his wife and his twin sister on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. A devoted husband, father, teacher, craftsman and man of deep faith, Todd’s legacy is one of compassion, integrity and service to others.

Todd was born in Boise, on Jan. 10, 1973, 10 minutes before his twin sister Tricia.

He grew up in Lewiston where he attended Camelot Elementary, Orchards Elementary, Sacajawea Junior High and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1991. He excelled in football, wrestling, and baseball at LHS, where he was awarded the Dwight Church Memorial Award his senior year. He also played four years of Legion baseball, receiving the American Legion Merit Award as a senior.

Todd attended the University of Idaho, earning a degree in physical education. He was a proud member of Farmhouse Fraternity — a cherished brotherhood he shared with his brother Steve and many lifelong friends. It was at UI where he met the love of his life, Tanya Meyer. They married in May 1997 and moved to Alaska later that year.

A gifted and passionate educator and coach, Todd spent 20 years teaching and coaching in Alaska (two years at Alakanuk and 18 at Tanana Middle School in Fairbanks). He ran the largest wrestling tournament in the state of Alaska. He returned to Lewiston in 2017 to teach and coach wrestling at Jenifer Middle School. He made every student feel seen, heard and valued. Always ready with a dad joke or a harmless prank, Todd brightened classrooms and hallways with his humor and warmth. For him, teaching and coaching were not just a profession — they were a ministry.

Todd put God first in all things. A devoted member of his church family, he served in any capacity needed and was actively training to become an elder at Crosspoint Church at the time of his passing. His faith was evident in his daily life, his relationships and his quiet generosity.

Todd was a builder — in every sense of the word. He created, improved and gave. He constructed a home for his family in Fairbanks and lovingly renovated every house they lived in. A skilled woodworker, he crafted beautiful, handmade gifts that he gave freely to others. An avid golfer, Todd was known for marathon days on the course, often playing 36 holes or more, finding peace and delight in the game.

Above all, Todd was a man of compassion. His ability to make others feel accepted and valued was extraordinary. He showed up with love, humility and unwavering kindness in every relationship.

Todd is survived by his beloved wife, Tanya Wimer; their children, Josephine Reel (Trenton) with children Hazel and Wayne, Michaela Bray (Elijah) with child Colter Bray, Caden Wimer (engaged to Emma Bischof) and Scott Wimer. He also leaves behind his parents, Michael “Mick” and Barbara Wimer; siblings Steven Wimer (Jill) with children Hope and Tess; his twin sister, Tricia Wassmuth (Phil) with children Taylor Baird and Mason; Michelle Steele (Clayton) with children Peja and Eva; and Scott Wimer (Michelle) with children Brynn and Ridge.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, church, students and all whose lives were graced by his presence.

A celebration of Todd’s life will be held on a date yet to be determined. All are welcome to attend and honor the life of this remarkable man.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crosspoint Church in Todd’s memory to be used for the Love the Valley ministry.
