Wayne Cecil Hill passed away Monday, July 16, 2018, in Lewiston, from complications of multiple sclerosis and a stroke. He was 73.
Wayne was born Aug. 13, 1944, in Ontario, Ore., to Cecil Wayne Hill and Martha (Talboy) Hill. Soon after his birth, the family moved to Nezperce, and he graduated from Nezperce High School in 1962. Wayne went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Idaho in animal science in 1967. Two years later, he and Shirley Uglem were married March 1, 1969, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lewiston.
Wayne worked for 35 years for the Farmers Home Administration, now known as the Farm Service Agency. His job moved him and his family to towns such as Emmett, Idaho, Genesee, Culdesac and finally to Lewiston. Wayne was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge and the National Rifle Association. He was a cowboy and competed in team and calf roping as long as he could and passed that passion on to his children. He loved watching his daughter and son rope. He was also a gold card member of the Idaho Cowboys Association. Wayne enjoyed trap shooting and won many trophies for it. He was also a huge Dallas Cowboys fan.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley Hill; children Brian (Lainey) Hill and Anna (Scott) Wilson; siblings Roy (Shannon) Hill and Dianna Hill (Wade Manke); and grandchildren Blake and Cade Hill, and Emma and Sam Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Martha Hill; grandparents Harry and Marion Hill; and nephew Clay Hill.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home, 920 21st Ave., Lewiston, and will be followed immediately by a celebration of life at the Ketch Pen at the Lewiston Roundup grounds.
