Alice Iona "Oney" Kachelmier Baune, born Feb. 19, 1927, in Nezperce, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017, in Lewiston, at age 90.

She spent every moment loving, laughing and giving. After marrying Victor Baune, together they raised six children. When Oney retired from working many years at Lewis County, she began a love of painting and spent most of her life in Idaho or spending time with family any chance she had.

Her loves were camping, traveling and painting, as well as her family. Bob Ross once said, "Got to have opposites dark and light, light and dark in painting, it's like in life. Got to have a little sadness once in a while so you know when the good times come." Not only did she do just that - spread color and happiness - but she did it in a way that no one else could. Her family will do the same, by loving and living in color and happiness the way she did.

Oney is survived by her three sisters: Eleanor Langdon, Sister Valine Kachelmier and Clarice Riggs. Her six children include Doug (Carlene) Baune, Dale (JoAnne) Baune, Ronald (Denise) Baune, Julie (Bob) Patten, Vicki (Jeff) Filkins and Greg Baune. She also is survived by 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alois and Cecilia Kachelmier; and her husband, Victor Baune, after 50 years of marriage. She also was preceded in death by her brothers, Leslie, Richard and Kenneth, and her sisters, Isadore and Kay (Reimers) Belknap.

Her service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at All Saints Catholic Church in Lewiston. Burial services will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Nezperce Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Monastery of St. Gertrude or to a charity of choice.
