Barbara Jean Harrison passed away peacefully Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow. She was born Oct. 30, 1928, near Palouse, the middle child of Hank and Mamie Young. Barbara grew up in Potlatch and lived most of her life in Latah County.
She married Howard Sexton in 1947, and they settled in Troy, where their three boys grew up. After Howard passed away in 1969, she married Sherman Harrison and they lived together happily for more than 40 years on the north side of Moscow Mountain.
Barbara was a caring mother who loved animals, enjoyed the company of friends and delighted in attending the senior citizens group in Potlatch, particularly when the Old Time Fiddlers showed up. She was an avid listener of audio books - especially the Harry Potter series - and a devotee of adult coloring books. She will be missed by those who loved her.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman. She is survived by a younger sister, Mary, and an older brother, Richard; as well as her three sons, Randy Sexton in Potlatch, Ken Sexton in Texas and Bill Sexton in California; and three grandchildren, Justin Sexton in California, Kate Sexton in Michigan and Tomomi Workman in Washington.
As she requested, following cremation her ashes were scattered in a private ceremony.
