He married his wife Sylvia Thomason in Burley, Idaho, on Feb. 16, 1957. They just celebrated their 68 years of marriage in 2025. They had four children, three boys and a daughter, all living in the Lewiston area. Their names are Tom R. Nielson, Robert A. Nielson, Timothy R. Nielson and deceased daughter, Vickie Lee Nielson, Williams.
Billy had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren living in the Boise and Lewiston area. Billy was a very devoted husband and caring father. We camped, rode motorcycles together and spent most of our time enjoying each others company.
Billy tried to never miss a football and basketball game his boys played in.
Billy was a great guitar player and Sylvia played piano and sang. Billy and Sylvia enjoyed playing music for the church.
Billy started working when he was 16 years old for the city of Burley in 1951. He was later promoted to street superintendent.
Billy then went to work for American Falls in 1972 as superintendent of streets and sanitation. He stayed there for 11 years and then moved to Lewiston.
Billy worked for the state of Idaho for 37 years before retiring from city work in 1989.
He was so loved by his family. We will miss him until we all meet him in heaven.
