Carol G. Covey

Carol G. Covey

12/31/1959 — 10/21/2023

Carol G. Covey, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene.

Carol was born in Lewiston on Dec. 31, 1959, which made her a New Year’s Eve baby, she would always say she was a tax-write off baby. Her family moved to Glenns Ferry, Idaho, when she was 8 years old, and then back to the Valley two years later.

While in junior high school she was a cheerleader. She went to Washington, D.C., with the Lewiston High School Marching Band for the inauguration of Jimmy Carter. She graduated from LHS in 1978 and attended Lewis-Clark State College for two years before getting a job with AT&T as a customer service representative.

After her time at AT&T, she worked for a video tape distributor in charge of several local store video rentals. She worked as an aide at various grade schools and later as an office manager for a local doctor.

While working at AT&T she met Hal Covey and they were married on March 20, 1981, and spent 42 years together until the time of her death. They had two children together, Anna and Ryan, and loved attending school functions. For a while, Carol was the troop leader for Ryan’s Cub Scout troop. Carol had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed traveling, especially to the Oregon Coast, where she and her family shared years of memories.

She loved to decorate the inside of her house for every holiday possible and as soon as the holiday passed the decorations would come down and the next holiday would go up. She loved to do crossword puzzles and bought books by the case. She was an amazing cook and always looked forward to the Thanksgiving feast where everybody was welcome.

She liked to camp and sit by the campfire, but more than anything, she loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Hal Covey; her two children, Anna and Ryan (Rose) Covey; her five grandchildren; her mother Mary Jackman; two sisters, Joyce Farris and Pam Greer and her brother Robert Heidenrich.

She made a friend out of everyone she met. She left us too soon and will be missed by so many. We love you always and forever.

A celebration of life will be announced at a future date.
