Charles O. Brackett, Jr.

Charles O. Brackett, Jr.

7/13/1935 — 5/20/2024

Charles “Chuck” Oaten Brackett Jr., went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 20, 2024. He was born to Charles and Betty Brackett in Lookout, Idaho, July 13, 1935. He was raised on a farm 3 miles north of Reubens. He loved tractors and spent many hours on the family’s first tractor. He raised many 4-H steers, loved playing basketball for Reubens, and graduated from Reubens in 1954. He attended the University of Idaho but his love for farming drew him back to Reubens, He married Wanda Liedkie in 1956 and during that time they had four children. They all worked on the farm, and Chuck loved having all his kids in the field with him. When Dworshak reservoir was created, Chuck bought a boat and summer weekends were spent there with kids learning to waterski, including Chuck. He fished on the Clearwater, bowled on a league in Craigmont and hunted with many of his friends.

Chuck farmed for 35 years and then started long haul trucking all over the United States and Canada. He was an accomplished truck driver. He later started work for Larry Boyer who was a lifelong friend. He hauled gravel for Boyer Gravel, until he was 80 years old. He had many happy gravel costumers that requested Chuck to deliver their gravel. He loved meeting people and rarely new a stranger.

On one of his gravel deliveries he met a gal named Pearl Wilson, who was on a tractor spreading the gravel he delivered. They married in 2004, and have made their home in the Lenore area until his death.

Besides Chuck’s love of tractors, farming, driving truck and his country, he loved his Dodge diesel pickups, and if you owned something besides a Dodge, he let you know Dodge was the best. The last couple of years his love for God became very important to him, telling others they needed to have God in their life.

He is preceded in death by his folks Charles and Betty Brackett, a sister Arlene (Brackett) Moore, a son Kenny Brackett (whom he missed so much) and sons-in-law Willie Paul and Eric Bolland.

Survivors include his wife Pearl Brackett; sister Rena (Chuck) Schroeder; brother Jim (Eileen) Brackett; daughters Kathy (Brackett) (Paul) Bolland and Karla (Brackett) Dimmett (Keith); son Kory Brackett (Jenny); daughter-in-law Dayna (Brackett) Thomas; stepchildren Lorrie Lynn (Mike) and Landry Lynn (Jamie); all together 21 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and one on the way, with many brother and sister-in-laws, nephews and nieces.

Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home of Lewiston performed the cremation services.
