Charles Trent Ames
September 1, 1958 – October 6, 2024

Charles Trent Ames, affectionately known as Trent, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024, due to complications from his treatment for throat cancer. A graveside service will be held at noon on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Millville Cemetery, 310 E 100 N, Millville, Utah. A luncheon will follow at the LDS Chapel, 130 W 2600 S, Nibley, Utah.

Trent was born to Charles Winborg Ames and Annetta Thompson Ames in Nibley, UT. Raised on a small dairy farm, he was the eldest of five siblings. Despite his farm upbringing, Trent pursued a career in construction, leaving the farm behind and setting out in his old Cadillac, fondly nicknamed "Ugly Hubs."

Known for his stubbornness and humor, Trent brought joy to every family gathering, always making them memorable. He had a special bond with his nieces and nephews, often surprising them with spontaneous acts, like jumping into the pool with them at a wedding. Trent also cherished the good times he shared with his lifelong friends, often reminiscing about their adventures and laughter-filled moments that shaped his life.

In the summer of 2005, Trent found his soulmate, Dianna Erickson. They settled in Lewiston, ID, where Trent worked for Western Construction out of Boise until his retirement in April 2023. Dianna and her family were a tremendous blessing in his life. Trent embraced Dianna’s daughters and grandchildren as his own. In retirement, he and Dianna enjoyed traveling the Northwest, fishing, camping, boating, and working on family projects.

Trent was known for his candid and insightful views on life, which he shared freely with those around him. His passing was sudden and unexpected, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, Carlton Thompson Ames. Trent is survived by his soulmate, Dianna Erickson, and her daughters, Nicole Skinner (Alden) and Anna LeBlanc (Don); and grandchildren, Colby, Landon, Preston, Gracie, and Cohen. He is also survived by his siblings, Jim (Holli) Ames, Leisa Ames, Dan (Denise) Ames, and Tareisa (Anthony) Ashford, as well as his cherished nieces and nephews, Jaxon, Taylor, McKelle, Jordan, Jacie, Kamrie, Torie, Brenton, Avery, Rudy, Tessa, AJ and his beloved dog, Diesel.
