Charlotte McGee passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the age of 92. She was born to James and Irene Gray on Aug. 16, 1931. She was the second oldest born of 12 children. She was born in Page, N.D., where Charlotte lived until 1948, when the family moved to Lewiston. She attended her senior year at Lewiston High School, where she graduated.
Charlotte married Kenneth McGee, and Lewiston is where they raised their family. She worked at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and Twin City Foods. When their children were raised, she and Kenneth moved to Benton City, Wash.
Charlotte worked several years for Lamb Weston where she made many friends. She eventually retired. Charlotte knew no strangers and was always willing to help anyone in need. She and Ken moved back to the valley, this time living in Clarkston.
After Ken passed away in November of 2008, Charlotte moved to Lewiston where she remained until she passed. After Ken passed away, she adopted a dog, Baby “DD.” The dog was with her until her passing.
Charlotte is survived by her siblings: Janet Hobart, Ruth Gray, Carol Brown, Ray Gray, Dennis Gray and Jerry Gray; and her children: Charlene Byde (Doug), Carol McGee, Ted McGee (Cheri) and Barb Amos (Brett). Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Kenneth McGee, and daughter Colleen Welker-McGee. Siblings that preceded her were Fred Gray, Ellen Knight, Jim Gray, Tom Gray and Mary Rose. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, family and friends, who will miss her dearly.
The family would like to extend a big “thank you” to the staff at Lewiston Transitional Rehab and Care Center for making sure that Charlotte’s last days were comfortable. Also, to family and friends who visited, shared stories, or watched Judge Judy or golf with her, she cherished these times and appreciated visiting.
There will be a celebration of life to honor Charlotte and Kenneth from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the VFW Hall, 1104 Warner Ave., Lewiston. Please bring a picture or story to share if you would like.
