Cheryl Ann (Laney) Holifield passed away Friday, May 19, 2017, in Spokane. She was born in October of 1949 in Spokane to Rose Marie and Albert "Bud" Laney.
Cheryl grew up in Spokane, Salmon, Idaho, and Lewiston. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1967.
Cheryl obtained her practical nursing degree from the Clarkston School of Practical Nursing in 1969. She worked in various hospitals throughout her nursing career, including St. Joseph Hospital, Tri-State Memorial Hospital, Emmett Community Hospital and St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise. She finished her career as an instructor at the Centralia College nursing assistant program. She was a beloved instructor there and took great pride in providing a strong foundation for the nursing assistants she sent into the workforce and on to higher education.
Cheryl loved shopping, cooking, flower gardening and being in nature. She loved Christmas and especially enjoyed spending holiday time with her family in both Lewiston and Boise.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Albert, and beloved husband Robert. She is survived by her mother, Rose Marie; brother Patrick "Pat" Laney; sons Jeffrey and Christopher; daughter-in-law Shannon; and grandchildren Cameron, Ellie, Chloe and Ryan.
Services for Cheryl will be held at 2 p.m. June 16 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3810 16th St., Lewiston. Special thanks to Pat and Teri Laney for the endless hours spent with our mom at the end and never leaving her side.
