Claudia Jo Winkler, 70, passed Wednesday, May 1, 2024, living through the late stages of dementia. Claudia is survived by her husband, Jerry; daughters, Anna, Chelsey and Courtney; grandchildren Avery, Ridge and Tuck; and her brothers Doug and Kent Holland. Claudia was preceded in death by her late husband, Clifford Cool; her son, Ben Cool; her father, Dutch; and her mother, Colleen.
Claudia was a caregiver most of her life in more ways than one. She was the loving daughter of Dutch and Colleen Holland, taking care of them during their final days. As a sister, she looked after her younger brother, Kent, and trailed after her older brother, Doug. Family was very important to Claudia. She organized the family get-togethers for holidays, birthdays and our yearly trips to Aquarius campground where she loved spending time at Purple Beach. Claudia was also a nurse for several different providers ranging from private practice, in-home care and orthopedics. Aside from work, she was a caring wife and mother. Claudia made sure her children knew right from wrong, encouraged their goals and gave them a supportive push when needed.
Even though Claudia’s memories faded as her disease progressed, our memories of her are comforting. She was resilient, strong, even stubborn at times, but most of all loving and caring. As her husband would say, “She was a pretty good Mommy-O-Doe.”
