David Ivey Lanier Jr., 80, of Clarkston, passed into his eternal rest and peace with Jesus on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, after a lengthy battle with complications of Parkinson's disease.
He was born Oct. 27, 1936, in Iredell County, N.C., the eldest of six children of the late David Ivey Lanier and Catherine Lowery Lanier. After growing up in Iredell County and graduating from Cool Springs School, he served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years before entering the private sector.
An avid outdoorsman and naturalist, David enjoyed hiking, fishing, hunting and shooting sports, as well as international and domestic travel. His lengthy career included ownership of several businesses, including real estate firms and Lanier Sports, selling firearms accessories.
Among those who will cherish his memory are his wife of 27 years, Lois Schlader Heston Lanier; daughters Cynthia Lanier Llagas and husband Fernando of Lewiston, and Cathy Lanier Schotte and husband Stuart of Conover, N.C.; brothers Lowery Lanier and wife Fran of Statesville, N.C., Eddie Lanier of Statesville, and Tom Lanier and wife Margaret of Blowing Rock, N.C.; sisters Gay Lanier Bolick of Concord, N.C., and Linda Lanier Craft of Garner, N.C.; stepsons Mark Heston, John Heston and wife Annette, Jim Heston and Joel Heston; grandchildren Matthew Schotte and wife Brooke, Nicholas Schotte, and Erin Schotte; stepgrandchildren Nate Heston and wife Nicole, Johnette Heston Lopez and husband Manny, Breanne Heston and Alex Heston; great-grandchildren Leah Schotte, Mila Rose Schotte, Oliver Schotte and Declan Schotte; and stepgreat-grandchildren Gunner Heston and Harleigh Jo Lopez. David also will be remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Bible Church, located at 514 Warner Ave., Lewiston. Rev. Josh Bundy will officiate. Lunch will be provided directly following the service. Condolences maybe sent to Mr. Lanier's family, at 2755 13th St., Clarkston, WA 99403.
