Donna Jean Brandt Wright, 67, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at her home.
She was born June 4, 1959, to William and Leola Brandt, of Gifford. She and her siblings, Kathryn, Susan and Jim, were raised in Gifford and enjoyed the small town way of life.
Donna attended school in Culdesac where she excelled in basketball. Donna and Kathryn would walk together to the bus stop each morning. One of her summer highlights was going to Vacation Bible School at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Gifford, carrying her lunch in a Roy Rogers lunch pail. She enjoyed going to the book mobile when it came to Gifford in the summer.
Later in life she became a book-reading fanatic and enjoyed the female authors. It was also a treat at Christmas time for the family to go to Candy Cane Lane in Lewiston. The Christmas program at church was another favorite of hers. She was involved with 4-H and enjoyed all these of animals, especially cows. In 1976, she and her sibling attended the national 4-H conference in Washington, D.C., she also attended Alacca Bible Camp.
Donna graduated in 1977 from Culdesac High School. One of her first jobs was at Oscar’s Restaurant in Grangeville. She was always friendly and a perfect fit to work in the public sector.
She eventually became a certified nursing assistant and eventually went to work at Life Care Center in Lewiston. She worked there for about 17 years, retiring in September of 2023. She met many friends working there, especially her nurse friends Norma Ray and Nicole Davila. There was not a person who would say a negative thing about her. She got CNA of the Year more than once and she had never flown before until they sent her to Boise in 2010 as a reward.
Donna loved family, and her children and grandchildren were the center of her life. She always had candy and popsicles for them. She married Bob Wright on Sept. 5, 2014. They enjoyed trips to Three Rivers, where they stayed in the cabins.
They bought a camp trailer in 2018 and that started many camping trips which included playing cribbage, Yahtzee and Sorry. She loved her three dogs and will be totally missed by all. Her last trip was with Rick Leach when the went back to North Dakota to attend their grandson’s graduation.
