Dwayne D. Grogan

8/15/1938 — 10/11/2025

Dwayne Dennis Grogan Sr., 87, passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

Dwayne was born Aug. 15, 1938, in Mason City, Wash., to Dennis and Elizabeth Grogan. He was the third of four children.

Dwayne grew up in many places including Spokane; Burke, Idaho; Missoula, Mont.; and North Dakota. In 1952 the family settled in Clarkston.

In 1956, Dwayne enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served two years at the Naval Station, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

After his service in the Navy he returned to Clarkston, where he met the love of his life, Alberta Olinger. They were married in 1959. Over the next 10 years, they had five children.

In 1959, Dwayne went to work at the Potlatch mill in Lewiston, first in the veneer plant and then later in the sawmill. He retired from Potlatch in 2001 after 42 years.

Dwayne was a man of God who set an example for his entire family. They attended the Open Bible Church from 1959 through 1988 until the church closed and then continued at Echo Hills Church.

He was a happy man who never met a stranger and he supported all of his children and grandchildren in every school function they were involved in. He loved bowling, the Mariners, Raiders and Seahawks. He often attended fairs, car shows and RV shows with his brother Jim whenever they could. If he was around family, he was happy.

Survivors are his five children: Charles (Myleen) Grogan, Dwayne Jr. (Rose) Grogan, Kevin Grogan, Greg Grogan and Mechelle (Darrell) Smith; brother Jim (Annetta) Bullard; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his wife Alberta Grogan, mother Elizabeth Reinhardt, father Dennis Grogan, brother Charles Grogan, brother La Verne Grogan, daughter-in-law Sandra Grogan, grandson James Grogan and great-granddaughter Kendyl Grogan.

There will be a celebration of life for Dwayne at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Echo Hills Church, 3215 Echo Hills Drive, Lewiston.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in Dwayne’s name to Eden’s Song, edenssong.org.
