Edwin A. Graham, 85, of Lewiston, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023, of heart failure. He was born June 22, 1938, in Boise, to Alvin H. Graham and Dorothea M. Betournay.
Edwin proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was honorably discharged in 1961.
He married Margaret Fay Lentz on Nov. 13, 1959, in Seattle.
Edwin worked as a custodian for the Lewiston School District for 27 years (1971-98) before retiring. He was fondly known as “Mr. Ed” by students and faculty at the many schools he served during his custodial career.
Edwin was Santa Claus at various locations around the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley, starting in 2002, until recent years. He also served as a volunteer for the U.S. Forest Service, and was Smokey Bear, participating in numerous parades and county fairs in the area since 2008.
Edwin is survived by his wife Margaret F. Graham, of Lewiston, and four sons: Douglas J. Graham, of Lewiston; Quentin Graham, of Shoreline, Wash.; Mickey Graham of Oakesdale, Wash., and Brian Graham, of Lewiston; six grandsons and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at VFW Post #10043, 1104 Warner Ave., in Lewiston.
