
Jerry Umphenour, 65, of Kamiah, passed away peacefully Monday, June 30, 2025, in his bed at Lakeside Residential Care in Winchester. Jerry was born on March 28, 1960, in Grangeville to Clark and Madeline Umphenour. He was raised and attended school in Kamiah through high school then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He spent six years in the service.
When he returned home, he went to work for the U.S. Forest Service and then on to driving truck and working in the woods. He was an exceptional driver and drove just about every kind of truck there was. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his kids hunting, fishing and doing just about anything outdoors related.
Jerry is survived by his siblings Floyd Umphenour, of St. Augustine, Fla., Mark Umphenour, of Weippe and Mary Umphenour, of Klamath Falls, Ore.; his son and daughter-in-law JJ and Amber Umphenour, of Lewiston; his daughter Shelli Umphenour, of Stites; and many cousins and grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents Clark and Madeline Umphenour and his daughter Shayla Umphenour.
His service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Kamiah VFW Post, 3376 Tamarack St., Kamiah. There will be a short military salute followed by a service and then lunch.
