Gerald Warren "Jerry" Corbett of Lapwai passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at the Prestige Care and Rehabilitation in Lewiston.
He was born May 1, 1943, to Alicia Corbett and Dick Barkisel in Orofino. Jerry attended school in Ahsahka and Orofino, then enlisted in the U.S. Army on Sept. 15, 1965, with his term ending Sept. 14, 1967.
Jerry married Janet Sartin to then have his only child, Ronald Wayne Corbett, on Nov. 30, 1974. Jerry lost the love of his life to a car accident in 1975 and stayed living in Wilbur, Wash., to help with his son.
Jerry worked as a bartender and at a mill until he retired to move home to Orofino with his sister, Vivian, and brother-in-law Bill Allman. He remained in their home until he moved to Lapwai Senior Center.
He is survived by son Ronald and wife Jody of Somerset, Mass.; sister Delores Hughes of Lapwai; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ahsahka Church. Marilyn Bowen will be officiating. Following the service, a covered-dish dinner will be held at the Teweepuu Center along U.S. Highway 12.
