Jeaneen (Sado) Murphey passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 2, 2023, of natural causes at the age of 80 with family by her side.
Jeaneen was born in Helena Mont., on June 9, 1943, and was the daughter of Michael “Mickey” and Genevieve “Gen” Sado. She was the youngest of four kids and she admired her older siblings Ann Louise Fay, Ronnie Sado and Patty Coyle. She held a very special bond with her sister Patty and looked forward to their daily phone calls.
Jeaneen was very active in school and was a cheerleader for many years. She attended Cathedral High School, graduating in 1961. Jeaneen met the love of her life, John “Bob” Murphey while attending Cathedral. They were married in 1963 and moved to Havre where Bob finished his degree and graduated from Northern Montana College. Their love for each other continues to be an inspiration for all that knew them.
Bob and Jeaneen had three children. Troy was born in Helena in 1964, Todd born in Helena in 1967 and Amy born in Clarkston in 1971. Jeaneen was such a loving and supportive mother never missing an event. She spent long hours at baseball and football games, wrestling matches and as a full-time shuttle driver. She always treated the mass of neighborhood kids that often congregated at her home as her own, frequently having to utilize her self-learned nursing skills to tend to one of the many injuries.
Jeaneen worked several jobs in addition to her years as a stay-at-home Mom, but her favorite was being the “lunch lady” for one of many elementary schools in Lewiston. She loved seeing the smiles on those little faces as they lined up to get their hot lunch. She loved to ski and golf and was sad to have to give them up in her 50s due to her health. She continued her love of sports by being a fanatical spectator with Gonzaga basketball topping her list. She also loved gardening, tending to her tomato plants and beautiful flowers. And if you were lucky enough to know her, you likely enjoyed one of her homemade cinnamon rolls or raspberry jam. Above all else, she loved her grandkids. Grandma’s house was always a safe haven full of love.
Jeaneen leaves this world to join her love, Bob who preceded her in death late last year. Her heart was broken when she lost him after 59 years of marriage. She is survived by her son Troy (daughter-in-law Lisa), her son Todd (daughter-in-law Sandy), her daughter Amy, her grandkids (Kate, John, Sierra, Kyle, Conner) and three great-grandchildren.
Our entire family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support for what has been a very difficult year.
