Lorraine Mary Clyde passed away at the home of her sister, Marlene Jensen, on Monday, June 19, 2017, with her family at her side, after a two-year battle with ovarian cancer.
Lorraine was born Aug. 21, 1949, in Hot Springs, S.D., to Marvin and Laura Clyde. She grew up in South Dakota, Wisconsin, Nebraska and finally Idaho.
Lorraine's nickname was Rainy, which she used since she was a little girl. She attended school in St. Maries and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1967. She attended one year of college in San Francisco, then went to Walla Walla Community College and graduated in 1972 as a licensed practical nurse. She moved to McCall and worked for a clinic there for several years. When Lorraine lived in McCall, she participated in the Winter Carnival and was a clown in a parade.
She moved back to Lewiston and attended Lewis-Clark State College and graduated as a registered nurse in 1982. She worked at St. Joseph Hospital for 35 years and she assisted with opening the Progressive Care Unit. She retired from St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in 2013.
Lorraine's greatest joy was her family and her dogs. She assisted in raising her great-niece. She supported her nieces and nephews in their activities such as football, soccer, baseball and barrel racing. She loved to travel around the country. She loved participating at casinos, both gambling and shows. Lorraine at one time belonged to hot air balloon and bowling teams.
Lorraine is survived by her sister, Marlene (Bill) Jensen, and nieces Christine and Patricia Jensen; great-nieces Stephanie Black and Emily Jensen; and great-nephew Levi Jensen. She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew Mike Jensen.
The family wishes to thank nurses and the doctors at SJRMC and Sacred Heart Medical Center and Elite Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Willow Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 22 at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home, and a get-together will be will be announced at later date.
