Marvin F. Eveland, 77, of Lewiston, lost his battle with Alzheimer’s disease Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, at Sage and Grace Assisted Living in Lewiston. Marv was born March 3, 1948, in Moscow to Frank and Mary Caldon Eveland, he graduated from Moscow High School in 1967 and joined the U.S. Navy. He served in several places, the most notable Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. His last station in 1970 was Patuxent River, Maryland, where he met his wife, Karen Swanson, who was from Troy. They married in December of 1970.

After graduating from the University of Idaho in 1975, Marv began a 32-year teaching career. His first teaching position was in Pierce, then Weippe, 10 years later Kendrick, and lastly at Jenifer Junior High, Lewiston, retiring from teaching in 2007. Teaching was his calling and his passion-not grading-just empowering learning. In 1995 he was awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching. He received many more teaching awards throughout the years.

Brewing beer was always a favorite pastime. He received his formal training at MJ Barleyhoppers, Red Lion Hotel, in Lewiston. After retiring, in 2008, he turned his lif long hobby into a business, opening Riverport Brewing in Clarkston.

After selling the brewery in 2014, he worked at Hardware Brewery in Kendrick mentoring their brewer.

All his life he created new projects, inspiring fellow teachers — building life-size whales out of rolls of plastic, collecting sand, rocks, fossils, reconstructing animal skulls, stained glass designing, woodworking, building, backpacking, skiing, traveling-life was an adventure for Marv taking along all those who loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, daughter Emily Hauck, of Clarkston, son-in-law Jeremy Hauck, of Lewiston, grandsons Austin (Olivia) and Cade Hauck, of Lewiston, granddaughter Brooke Hauck, of Clarkston and two great grandchildren, Tucker Hauck, of Clarkston and Josephine Hauck, of Lewiston. He is survived by his sisters, Macel Anderson, of Lewiston and Murl Green, of Pocatello.

Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 21. Burial will take place at 10 a.m., at Burnt Ridge Cemetery near Troy, followed by a noon celebration of his life at the Seaport Ballroom of the Hells Canyon Grand Hotel, 621 21st St., Lewiston. Lunch will be provided.
