Melinda Yvonne (Dobbs) Sass was born July 9, 1949, in Fort Ord, Calif., to William John and Naomi Laverne Dobbs. She graduated from Rio Linda Academy in California in 1967. She spent one year in the licensed practical nurse program and one year taking a cosmetology course.
She married Orin Herman Sass on July 17, 1977, and was later divorced, in June 1981. She worked at a home for the aged until she could no longer work due to injuries sustained.
Her hobbies included reading, painting, sewing and her pets. She was a faithful member of the Clarkston Seventh-day Adventist Church. Her last year of her life was spent in a battle against cancer, which ended Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018.
A memorial for her will be held at 2 p.m. April 7 at the Clarkston Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2673 13th St.
