Michael Blair

Michael Blair

5/1/1949 — 10/9/2016

On Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, we lost our precious Michael: a father, grandfather, son and brother. He is now in God's hands and is no longer suffering.

Mike was born to Jim and Barb Blair on May 1, 1949, in Jamestown, N.D. Mike grew up in Puyallup, Wash., and then the family moved to Asotin, where Mike attended high school. He then served in the U.S. Air Force. He was honorably discharged in 1968. Mike worked for the city of Lewiston until he was forced to retire due to health issues.

Mike married Pam Torez on Sept. 17, 1956. Together, they had a son, Michael James Blair Jr., and a daughter, Kamera Lynn Blair. They later divorced. On March 18, 1977, Mike married Sandy and they lived in Lewiston the past 39 years. Together, they raised Mike's son, Mike Jr., and Sandy's son, Bryan Storey. The boys were 6 years old when they married.

Mike and Sandy enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and traveling with their boys. Their true passion the past 25 years was taking their fifth-wheel to the Oregon Coast. Their favorite spot was at the Sea and Sand in Depoe Bay. They loved the coast and enjoyed that very much.

Mike and Sandy shared a love for pets. Together, with several others, they started Helping Hands Rescue in 1997. In their time together they raised 42 pets. And most of all, he loved his palomino horse, Juno.

Mike never knew a stranger. He never judged anyone, due to his kind and loving heart. He was a very kind and compassionate man, and everyone knew this of him.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy, of 42 years; sons Michael (Kim) Blair and Bryan (Brenda) Storey; grandson Dawson; and granddaughter Taytem, all of Lewiston; sister Claudia Moore; and brother Scott Blair of Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Barb Blair; and infant daughter Kamera Lynn Blair.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Vassar Rawls. Following the service, please join us for a potluck in Mike's honor at 1018 17th Ave., Lewiston, the home of Mike and Sandy Blair.

Donations can be made to Helping Hands Rescue, P.O. Box 1975, Lewiston, ID 83501.

The family would like to thank nurse practitioner Theresa Smith of Clearwater Medical Clinic, Jennifer and staff at wound care of Gritman Medical Center and Dr. Ho and staff of St Joseph's Interventional Radiology. They took such great care of Mike over the years.

So sorry to see Mike pass from us. Always good natured and friendly. He just never seemed to have a bad day when you talked with him, even though he may have been having a tough day physically. My deepest sympathies to you, Sandy, and the boys. May our God hold you close at this time.
